Community Environment

In partnership with the International Center, our skilled staff works with the students to choose the excitement and challenge of the international experience. This living-learning area is led by student peers. You will help to plan activities and learn about other cultures.

The goal of the Go Global floor is to bring International and local students together to create an involved and diverse living experience. International students are introduced to diverse new cultural experiences, exciting outdoor recreation, and dynamic local residents and students, unique to Utah. Residents of the Go Global floor possess an amazing opportunity to learn about other cultures, develop international friendships, and expand their global consciousness. During the 2006-2007 academic year, over ten countries were represented on the Go Global floor. Many ISEP students are placed on the floor through the International center which works closely with the Resident Advisor on the Go Global floor, both to plan activities for residents and to address questions or concerns that may arise throughout the year. The Go Global floor is an ideal environment for students unfamiliar with Utah or the U.S. The floor RA and local residents are extremely willing to help new, International students to everything from the local grocery store to the best ski resorts. Unity, diversity, and acceptance are all values representative of the minds and hearts found on the Go Global floor.

Floor Programs/Traditions

International Potluck: Hosted by the Go Global floor, in collaboration with the International Student Council. Everyone is welcome to join us and get a taste of diverse cuisine from all over the world. Prizes are awarded for the tastiest dishes.
Coffee/hot cocoa nights: Starting Spring 2007, the Go Global floor, in conjunction with the International Center, will be hosting coffee/hot cocoa nights once a month . This activity will bring the international and local communities closer together to plan events, discuss a variety of issues, and meet new friends.
“Open Kitchen Night”: Every friday night, the programming kitchen is open students on the Go Global Floor to cook whatever they would like and share with others from the floor, if they so choose.
