House Environment
Living in the Poulson Honors House provides a great balance between fun and learning. Since all members are Honors students, studying is taken seriously and residents encourage each others’ success. But Honors students know how to have fun as well. It’s easy to organize a study-break for a snack, movie, coffee run, or whatever. “Hall parties” are frequent, with residents gathering in the hallways or common rooms to chat with each other. The house is a great environment because it lets you get to know other academically strong students who can become lifelong friends. We learn from each other, study with each other, and laugh with each other.
Variety of Majors: While all the residents in the Poulson house are in the Honors Program, the majors of these residents vary. This diverse living environment is great exposure to new things: students taking theater class will get together with others to attend plays, dance majors bring others to dance performances, those interested in the arts let others know about upcoming shows and exhibits. Our house calendar is always filled with fun and interesting things to do, and our house is filled with people who will go to these events with other house residents!
610 Resident Quotes
“It's like having a second family and a really great support system. You always have someone to go the HC with. You always have a buddy to complain about homework with. You never feel like you are alone in college cause people are just willing to help you out all the time.”
— Sara Dudek, resident ’05-’07
“Living in the Poulson Honors House is a really unique experience. For me, it is a true growth opportunity where you get to know people who are entirely different from you, and through that experience you better yourself. I've really appreciated the opportunity to be exposed to a number of different lifestyles through my stays at the Honors House. The experience is especially unique because we live, grow, and study in a historic piece of architecture that surrounds us with the reminder of what those who came before us accomplished and that we today have to strive to greaten our world.” —Robert Costa, resident ’04-’05, ’06-’07
