Living Learning Communities (LLCs)
Living Learning Communities (LLCs) bring together students with shared interests, identities, or academic goals to build connection, deepen learning, and create a sense of belonging.
Honors First-Year Community
This community provides an essential foundation for all first-year, on-campus students in the Honors College. Residents are grouped into smaller cohorts and take required Honors courses together, creating a tight-knit academic and social network. The program is designed to facilitate a smooth and successful transition into the rigors and opportunities of the Honors College.
Wild Utah: Nature, Stewardship, and Communities from the Deserts to the Summit
Trailhead’s Living Learning Community (LLC) is presented by the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism (PRT). It offers students an immersive, year-long exploration of Utah’s diverse landscapes—from arid deserts to alpine peaks. This program emphasizes the intersection of environment, recreation, tourism, natural history, and human culture, providing students with both classroom and experiential learning opportunities.
Through a combination of seminars and field-based programs, students will develop a deep appreciation for Utah’s unique biomes and the complex relationships between humans and the natural environment.
The LLC engages students in the complex elements of land management, conservation practices, outdoor recreation, and nature-based tourism. By studying Utah’s landscapes and the ways people interact with them, students will gain interdisciplinary knowledge that is directly applicable to a broad range of careers, including but not limited to recreation management, land management, education, tourism, outdoor education, environmental policy, and conservation.
