Home Cancelling Your Contract

The pre-occupancy cancellation fee schedule is to be used for students who have submitted a pre-occupancy cancellation via Housing U (i.e. before the student checks into their room). The below tables will show the pre-occupancy cancellation fees in accordance with the date of submission of their pre-occupancy cancellation form via Housing U. Please note that all students will be charged for housing and dining plan dues on August 1st.

2026 Summer Pre-Occupancy Cancellation Schedule

Within 72 hours of reservation fee paymentRefund of $200 reservation fee and no cancellation fee
After 72 hours of reservation fee payment through April 15$400 cancellation fee. Any reservation fee paid earlier will be forfeited and counted toward the cancellation fee.
April 16 – May 1$800 cancellation fee. Any reservation fee paid earlier will be forfeited and counted toward the cancellation fee.
May 1Students are billed.
On or after May 2$1000 cancellation fee. Any reservation paid earlier will be forfeited and counted toward the cancellation fee.

First Year 2026-2027 (Pre-Occupancy Cancellation Fee Schedule)

Within 72 hours of reservingIf a student has paid the $200 room reservation fee, this fee will be refunded. No pre-occupancy cancellation fees will be assessed.
Through May 31$200 pre-occupancy cancellation fee. Any reservation fee paid earlier will be forfeited and counted toward the pre-occupancy cancellation fee.
June 1 - June 30$800 pre-occupancy cancellation fee. Any reservation fee paid earlier will be forfeited and counted toward the pre-occupancy cancellation fee.
July 1 - July 31$1,100 pre-occupancy cancellation fee. Any reservation fee paid earlier will be forfeited and counted toward the pre-occupancy cancellation fee.
August 1 - First date of occupancy$1,500 pre-occupancy cancellation fee. Any reservation fee paid earlier will be forfeited and counted toward the cancellation fee. HDP will reverse Fall charges for room/dining/services and charge the pre-occupancy cancellation fee.
No show cancellation feeIf a student fails to occupy the room within 10-days of their contract starting, the student's contract will be cancelled and the student will be charged a pre-occupancy cancellation fee of $1,500 along with prorated room/dining/services fees through the end of the 10-day period.

Upper Division 2026-2027 (Pre-Occupancy Cancellation Schedule)

March 1 - 31$300 pre-occupancy cancellation fee. Any reservation fee paid earlier will be forfeited and counted toward the pre-occupancy cancellation fee.
April 1 - 30$400 total pre-occupancy cancellation fee. Any reservation fee paid earlier will be forfeited and counted toward the pre-occupancy cancellation fee.
May 1 - 31$600 total pre-occupancy cancellation fee. Any reservation fee paid earlier will be forfeited and counted toward the pre-occupancy cancellation fee.
June 1 - 30$800 pre-occupancy cancellation fee. Any reservation fee paid earlier will be forfeited and counted toward the pre-occupancy cancellation fee.

Spring Only 2026 Pre-Occupancy Cancellation Fee Schedule (First Year and Upper Division)

After 72 hours of the $200 reservation fee being paid - First day of occupancy:$1,500 pre-occupancy cancellation fee. Any reservation fee paid earlier will be forfeited and counted toward the pre-occupancy cancellation fee. HDP will reverse Spring charges for room/dining/services and charge the pre-occupancy cancellation fee.
No show cancellation fee:If a student fails to occupy the room within 10-days of their contract starting, the student's contract will be cancelled and the student will be charged a pre-occupancy cancellation fee of $1,500 along with prorated room/dining/services fees through the end of the 10-day period.

 

The post-occupancy cancellation refund schedule is to be used for students who have submitted a post-occupancy cancellation via Housing U (i.e. after the student checks into their room). The below tables will show the post-occupancy cancellation refund schedule in accordance with the date that the student checks out of their room.

Adjustments will appear on your student account after you submit the post-occupancy cancellation form and complete your check out. Please consult our rate table to determine the percentage refunds you may be eligible for in accordance with your check-out date.

Academic-year contract students who are looking to do a post-occupancy cancellation for just their spring booking, need to submit the form by October 20th. If they do a spring post-occupancy cancellation after this date, they will be refunded 80% of their housing and dining plan costs for the spring semester.

2026 Summer Post-Occupancy Cancellation Schedule

Session 1
Date of Occupancy – May 3050% of Session 1 cost refunded + 50% of your dining cost refunded.
On or after May 310% of Session 1 cost refunded + 0% of your dining cost refunded.
Session 1 & 2
Date of occupancy – June 2050% of Session 1 & 2 cost refunded + 50% of your dining cost refunded.
On or after June 210% of Session 1 & 2 cost refunded + 0% of your dining cost refunded.
Session 2
Date of Occupancy – July 1150% of Session 2 cost refunded + 50% of your dining cost refunded.
On or after July 120% of Session 2 cost refunded + 0% of your dining cost refunded.

2025-2026 Post-Occupancy Cancellation Refund Schedule

First date of occupancy - August 3180% of Fall Semester Room and Dining charges refunded. Spring fees will not be charged.
September 1 - September 3060% of Fall Semester Room and Dining charges refunded. Spring fees will not be charged.
October 1 – October 2040% of Fall Semester Room and Dining charges refunded. Spring fees will not be charged.
October 21 – Dec 13 at 2 p.m.0% of Fall Semester Room and Dining charges refunded. 80% of Spring room charges will be refunded and 80% of Spring meal cost refunded.
December 13 at 2 p.m.Fall Closing Date
December 13 - December 31December 13th by 2 p.m. is the final move-out day/time for students. Post-occupancy cancellation submitted after this time are charged $500 late-post-occupancy cancellation fee. Additionally, 80% of Spring room charges will be refunded and 80% of Spring Dining charges refunded. 0% of any fall charges are eligible for refund.
