CANCELLING YOUR CONTRACT
The pre-occupancy cancellation fee schedule is to be used for students who have submitted a pre-occupancy cancellation via Housing U (i.e. before the student checks into their room). The below tables will show the pre-occupancy cancellation fees in accordance with the date of submission of their pre-occupancy cancellation form via Housing U. Please note that all students will be charged for housing and dining plan dues on August 1st.
2026 Summer - Pre-Occupancy Cancellation Schedule

| May 1 | Students are billed. |
| On or after May 2 | $1000 cancellation fee. Any reservation paid earlier will be forfeited and counted toward the cancellation fee. |
First Year 2026-2027 - Pre-Occupancy Cancellation Fee Schedule

| June 1 - June 30 | $800 pre-occupancy cancellation fee. Any reservation fee paid earlier will be forfeited and counted toward the pre-occupancy cancellation fee. |
| July 1 - July 31 | $1,100 pre-occupancy cancellation fee. Any reservation fee paid earlier will be forfeited and counted toward the pre-occupancy cancellation fee. |
| August 1 - First date of occupancy | $1,500 pre-occupancy cancellation fee. Any reservation fee paid earlier will be forfeited and counted toward the cancellation fee. HDP will reverse Fall charges for room/dining/services and charge the pre-occupancy cancellation fee. |
| No show cancellation fee | If a student fails to occupy the room within 10-days of their contract starting, the student's contract will be cancelled and the student will be charged a pre-occupancy cancellation fee of $1,500 along with prorated room/dining/services fees through the end of the 10-day period. |

The post-occupancy cancellation schedule applies to students who submit a post-occupancy cancellation request after checking into their assigned room.
After you submit your post-occupancy cancellation request and complete your official check-out, any applicable refunds or cancellation fees will be applied to your student account based on the post-occupancy cancellation schedule.
Please consult the applicable housing rate table to review your housing charges and refer to the post-occupancy cancellation refund schedule below to determine the refund percentage you may be eligible to receive based on your official check-out date.
How Refunds and Fees Are Determined
Two dates are important when processing a post-occupancy cancellation:
1. Cancellation Request Submission Date
The date you submit your post-occupancy cancellation request.
- This date determines whether a late cancellation fee applies. Cancellation requests submitted after October 31 are subject to applicable late cancellation fees.
2. Official Check-Out Date
The date you officially complete the residence hall check-out process.
- This date determines the refund percentage you may receive.
Important: Students planning to move out at the end of the Fall semester must submit their post-occupancy cancellation request by October 31 to avoid late cancellation fees.
