Get Involved: Councils, RHA, and NRHH
First-year students who live on campus are highly encouraged to get involved in the Residence Hall Association (RHA), National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) or their Community Council to make connections, gain professional skills, and make a difference on campus. In addition, our space in Kahlert Village, The Living Room, has free resources, including printing, snacks, energy drinks, board games, and study space. Questions or looking to get involved? Community Council
Any student living on campus has the opportunity to build connections and develop leadership skills by joining their Community Council. Community Council empowers students to take an active role in shaping their on-campus living experience by advocating for their neighbors, hosting events, and making a meaningful impact within their community. Each council is led by an executive board, with applications opening at the start of the fall semester.

Residents can make a difference in their community by serving as a Committee Member through their Community Council. Committee Members support events, provide feedback, contribute ideas, and assist with initiatives that enhance the residential experience. Opportunities are available throughout the year, allowing students to get involved, build leadership skills, and make a positive impact without serving on the executive board.

Residence Hall Association
RHA is the representative student government for all students living on campus at the University of Utah. Through ever-growing advocacy, engaging student involvement, leadership development, and innovative events, RHA strives to cultivate a sustainable and enriching residential experience. It fosters a sense of community through monthly events and regular RHA General Council meetings, where students’ voices on housing and dining are heard.

This year's process will begin by late January and is coordinated by the RHA President, Parliamentarian, and RHA Advisor. Each position has certain requirements, and there will be information sessions and guides for anyone who is interested. National Residence Hall Honorary
The Swoop Chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary at the University of Utah enhances academic learning and the on-campus living experience through service, recognition, and leadership for the benefit of residential students and chapter members.

The Living Room: Free for Students Living On-Campus
Located on the first floor in Kahlert Village on the southeast side of the elevators, The Living Room is a space available, and free, to all students living on campus. Free resources include games, snacks, drinks, crafts, activities, and printing. Fall hours will be shared during move-in. RHA and NRHH are excited to bring this space back for the 2026-2027 school year!
