FIRST-YEAR HOUSING

Eligibility: First-year students

Description: The University Guest House (UGH) is a hotel-style housing option for first-year students. Its proximity to a TRAX train station, the Peterson Heritage Center, and a campus shuttle stop allows you to explore both campus and Salt Lake City easily. The building features single and double rooms with king-, queen-, and full-size beds. A meal plan is required in this living area. For information on pricing, view our rates page.

Amenities:

• Front Desk: You will have access to the 24-hour info desk in the Peterson Heritage Center (PHC). 

• Furniture: 
  • • Full-, queen-, or king-size bed, depending on room type.
      • • A mattress protector is provided. However, sheets, pillows, towels, and other linen items are not provided. 
        • Beds cannot be lofted.
    • In-room bathroom with sink, toilet, and tub/shower with curtain.
    • Built-in shared closet.

• Internet Connection: One ethernet port per room. Wireless connection via onboard.utah.edu 

• Study Space: You will have access to community student space in the main lobby area on the first floor of the UGH. 

• Laundry: Free laundry is available onsite. Vacuums are available in laundry rooms for resident use. Detergent, softener, and dryer sheets are not provided. 

• Parking: If you bring a vehicle to campus, you are required to purchase a parking permit through Commuter Services. 
  • • You may park in the lot on the east side of the UGH near the main entrance. You may also use Housing lots throughout Heritage Commons including the Chapel Gen lot just across the street. 
    • The parking lot looping around the back of UGH is not available and is for hotel guests only. 
• Cooking:
  • • Items that contain/use an open heating element or immersion coil are not permitted in residence halls—including the University Guest House.
      • • Allowed: Microwave and MicroChill.
        • Not Allowed: Hot plates, toasters, toaster ovens, and “George Foreman” type indoor grills.

    • Single King Deluxe
    • Double Queen
    • Double Full Economy
• Room Diagrams (3D coming soon)
  • • Note: Single King Deluxe room type is not reflected. However, this room type is similar to the Single King room type but includes additional square footage for a small furnished living area.
