Living Learning Communities (LLCs) bring together students with shared interests, identities, or academic goals to build connection, deepen learning, and create a sense of belonging.

IMPACT & PROSPERITY EPICENTER

  • The Impact & Prosperity Epicenter is home to our Changemakers, where students live, learn, and work to solve the world’s great challenges.

    Under the "Changemakers", the Epicenter provides additional options for students to be involved in various Theme Communities, including Health Innovation, Impact Capital, Interfaith and Global Health. These Theme Communities are owned and operated by the Impact & Prosperity groups.

KAHLERT VILLAGE

All Living Learning Communities in Kahlert Village are open to first-year students only.

  • The College of Engineering floor works together through the rigors of their courses and deepens connections to engineering faculty, and staff.

  • First-year science and mathematics majors find connections among their peers and additional opportunities to engage with the College of Science.

     

  • First-year students explore opportunities through curricular and co-curricular high-impact volunteer engagement experiences to develop civic values.

     

  • A network of first-year honors students who take one or more required Honors course(s) and participate in co-curricular activities outside of class.

     

  • Residents work with Outdoor Adventures to plan experiences throughout Utah and the Rocky Mountains.

LASSONDE STUDIOS

  • Lassonde Studios is a student entrepreneur and innovation community for all students at the University of Utah and home to approximately 400 students. This is a place where students from any major or year can “Live. Create. Launch.” Residents can engage with a community in the four themed maker lounges, including Global Impact and Sustainability; Products, Design, & the Arts; Adventure & Gear; and Games & Digital Media, managed by the Lassonde Entrepreneurial Institute, an interdisciplinary and top-10 division of the University of Utah's David Eccles School of Business.

MARRIOTT HONORS COMMUNITY

  • If you’re an active member of the Honors College and have completed your first year at the U, an Honors Upper Division Communities is an excellent option. Students who live here have increased access to faculty, staff, and peer support as they pursue one of the most crucial points of their Honors Degree, the thesis. This support will help connect you to research opportunities and provide an ideal environment highly conducive to your academic pursuits.

OFFICERS CIRCLE

  • This community is designed for upper-division students who are committed to community engagement, regardless of their prior experience. In partnership with the Bennion Center, residents participate in service projects, dialogues, and leadership opportunities that connect their learning to real-world social issues.

  • The Crocker Science House offers an engaging community for upper-division students in the College of Science. Through a variety of activities, including faculty dinners and science-themed events, residents build strong professional and social networks.

  • Fine Arts majors who seek to maximize talent and creativity among its community members. The space has a baby grand piano, dance room, and plenty of space to create.

     

  • Residents who are actively participating in the First Ascent Scholars program are offered support in shared experiences that aid their knowledge and understanding of business.

  • The Kennecott House offers a dedicated community for upper-division students in the John and Marcia Price College of Engineering. Residents are immersed in an environment that supports their rigorous academic goals through peer collaboration and targeted events.

  • The Native Ascent Scholars Program awards academically focused American Indian students a housing scholarship and provides them with a continuous, supportive living-learning experience. The program is designed to foster community, academic growth, and personal development through targeted programming and peer support. To apply, students must request an application by emailing native-excellence@utah.edu

     

  • In the Humanities House, students are part of a thriving community committed to becoming better-informed, thoughtful world citizens.

     

TRAILHEAD

  • This community provides an essential foundation for all first-year, on-campus students in the Honors College. Residents are grouped into smaller cohorts and take required Honors courses together, creating a tight-knit academic and social network. The program is designed to facilitate a smooth and successful transition into the rigors and opportunities of the Honors College.

     

  • This program emphasizes the intersection of environment, recreation, tourism, natural history, and human culture, providing students with both classroom and experiential learning opportunities. Residents must enroll in a required course.
