U of U On The Draw

In the heart of downtown Sugar House, U of U On The Draw offers a unique opportunity to live close to campus and explore what Salt Lake City has to offer. While The Draw is located off campus, it is completely managed by Housing & Residential Education.

Kahlert Village

Opened in August 2020, Kahlert Village is the newest residential community on campus and is home to approximately 1,200 first-year students. The building is made up of seven themed communities to help students deepen their engagement on campus. The building features single, double, and triple bedrooms in cluster and suite-style configurations. Kahlert Village is centrally located on campus, includes a full-service dining facility, and a variety of classroom and study space available for students. A meal plan is required in this living area.

Downtown Commons 2

Downtown Commons 2 features single, two-bedroom apartments. Each space also includes a shared kitchen, bathroom and living room. Please note, these apartment communities are located in downtown Salt Lake City and not on the University of Utah campus. Individuals who live in these apartments are not required to have a meal plan, but may select one if they would like.

Downtown Commons 1

The Downtown Commons 1 apartments include private bedrooms within two- or three-bedroom apartments. Each space also includes a shared kitchen, bathroom, and living room. Please note, these apartment communities are located in downtown Salt Lake City and not on the University of Utah campus. Individuals who live in these apartments are not required to have a meal plan, but may select one if they would like.

Student Life Center

Located just west of the George S. Eccles 2002 Legacy Bridge and adjacent to the Fort Douglas TRAX stop, the Center connects student lif sith academic life and creates a more engaged campus community.

A. Ray Olpin Union

The A. Ray Olpin Union is the community center of campus that compliments the academic mission of the University. The Union cultivates an environment that serves students by providing social, cultural, leadership and co-curricular opportunities. The Union values diversity and promotes a safe and welcoming atmosphere where students are inspired to realize their potential.

J. Willard Marriott Library

The J. Willard Marriott Library at the University of Utah provides research tools, collections and services for students, faculty and researchers.

Lassonde Studios

Lassonde Studios opened in the Fall of 2016, and is home for 412 student entrepreneurs and innovators. This is a place where students from any major or year can “Live. Create. Launch.” The building features cluster, loft, and pod style living options. Residents can engage with a community of makers on the four themed maker lounges in the building.

Peterson Heritage Center

The Peterson Heritage Center is open to all university students, 24 hours a day, to serve as a resource and help answer questions. The front desk can also contact resident advisors to provide assistance, as well as to dispatch staff to assist if a housing violation is taking place.

Shoreline Ridge

Shoreline Ridge features two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments. Shoreline apartments offer full-size kitchens, private bedrooms, and spacious common areas. Shoreline is close to our dining center, student solar plaza, outdoor basketball and volleyball courts, and plenty of hiking trails out the backdoor.

Benchmark Plaza

Benchmark Plaza features two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments for first-year residents. Benchmark apartments offer full-size kitchens, private bedrooms, and spacious common areas. Benchmark is close to our shuttle stop and the Peterson Heritage Center, including the dining room, and plenty of hiking trails making it a great place to live, study, and play.

Marriott Honors Community

The Donna Garff Marriott Honors Residential Scholars Community (MHC) features apartment living for 309 upper-division undergraduate Honors students. The MHC apartments offer full-size kitchens, spacious common areas, and great views of campus and the Wasatch Mountains. The MHC is unique because it also includes classroom spaces, an Honors Market/Convenience Store, and a centralized front desk and mail room making it a great place to learn, socialize, and relax. This building opened in 2012. Residents are not required to select a meal plan, however many students select one for convenience.

Officers Circle

Officers Circle (OC) is a unique community comprised of 10 individual houses, most with a different academic or themed focus. There are 12 residents in each house, with the Kennecott House housing 13 residents. All houses are mixed gender and feature large study/lounge spaces, front porches, and kitchens. The OC houses are close to the Peterson Heritage Center, including the dining room, shuttle stop, and Eccles Legacy Bridge making access to all of campus easy and convenient. A meal plan is required in this living area, the lower level meal plan is available to residents.

Sage Point

Sage Point features suite-style single, double, and triple rooms for approximately 850 first-year students. Sage Point is also home to many of our Living Learning and Theme Communities, making it a great place to pursue your interests and make friends. Sage Point is features a 24-hour exercise facility for residents, plenty of outdoor green space, and excellent views of the Wasatch Mountain front. A meal plan is required in this living area.

Gateway Heights

Gateway Heights features suite-style double and triple rooms for first-year students. Gateway Heights halls are single gender by building and offer several common area spaces for studying, socializing, and meeting new friends. Gateway is adjacent to the shuttle stop and the Peterson Heritage Center, which includes our dining room. A meal plan is required in this living area.

Chapel Glen

Chapel Glen features suite-style rooms for first-year students. Chapel Glen floors are co-ed and offer several common area spaces for studying, socializing, and meeting new friends. Chapel Glen is close to the medical and health areas of campus and features several nearby outdoor spaces perfect for soaking up some sun, relaxing, and includes slacklining poles. There is a fitness area in Chapel Glen 803 for use by all residents. It is accessible 24-hours a day. A meal plan is required in this living area.

University Guest House

The University Guest House (UGH) is a hotel-style housing option for first-year students. Its proximity to a TRAX train station, the Peterson Heritage Center (PHC), and a campus shuttle stop allows you to explore both campus and Salt Lake City easily.
