On-campus dining has been modified to better promote social distancing and to promote the health and wellbeing of community members. This means dining options on campus may be limited to carry-out service only, reduction in seating to help provide distance between seats, and the development of a meal pick-up scheduling mobile app to allow residents to schedule a pick up at their preferred time to also help with social distancing.
One of the most common questions students ask us when they tour housing spaces is, “what is dining like?" So, I asked fellow student leaders the same question so we could see where actual students favorite dining spots are!
crimson view
Kae, a housing ambassador, said, “Crimson View! I love the view and their roast beef sandwiches. It is a really fun place to go with friends to eat out of the dining hall.” Crimson View is located on the fourth floor of the A. Ray Olpin Union Building and overlooks Salt Lake City. Crimson View is sit down, restaurant-style with a large menu open every weekday. For students with a meal plan, Crimson View accepts transfer meals, flex dollars and cash.
café brio
Jareth, a housing ambassador said, “Cafe Bri in the architecture building because it helps me get through my three-hour critiques.” Cafe Brio has multiple locations across campus including the architecture, biology, and EAE buildings. You can stop by to get a fresh coffee or a variety of quick snacks as a little pick me up before class! Cafe Brio accepts cash.
Miller Café
Jason, a desk assistant said, “Miller cafe because the chef specials every week are so good, and it’s open late.” The Miller Cafe is located on the first floor of Lassonde Studios and is open 24 hours. Miller Cafe serves all three meals as well as having a stocked market where you can pick up smaller snacks and grab and go items. The Miller Cafe accepts transfer meals, flex dollars and cash.
acaí truck
Beth, a resident advisor said, “The acai Truck in Lassonde Studios is my favorite acai, and you can pick it up quickly on the way to class or the gym!” The Acai Truck is a student food business supported through Lassonde Studios providing acai bowls and other healthy meals! It accepts transfer meals, flex dollars and cash.
absurd bird
Zile, a housing ambassador said, “The Gardner Commons Chicken place, Absurd Bird, because of its buttermilk ranch and really great chicken!” The Gardner Commons food court houses a variety of dining options including Absurd Bird, a Vegan option and a rotating station that hosts local restaurants on campus. Gardner Commons also features a small convenience store that allows you to grab and go snacks on your way to class. Gardner Commons accepts flex dollars and cash.
panda express
Aspen, the vice president of the Residence Hall Association (RHA) said, “Panda Express because fried rice after a stressful class makes everything ok.”Panda Express is located in the A Ray Olpin Union food court and serves the same menu you would expect to see at an off-campus Panda Express. Be warned it is very popular and the lines can get long, so plan ahead! Panda Express accepts flex dollars and cash.
football center
Jake, a resident advisor said, “The football center has some really amazing high-quality food and might be the best on campus.” This dining room is located in the Spence and Cleone Eccles Football Center on Guardsman way. The Football Center accepts flex dollars and cash.
