The groups will also participate in out of class co-curricular activities. Starting Fall 2025 first-year honors students who choose to live on campus must live in an Honors designated area.
- Small groups of Honors students living in the Honors residences
- 1-2 required Honors courses
- Designed for first-year housing students
- Community out of class special events and programming
- First year spots in Kahlert Village Honors Tower
** Accepted students can apply for Honors Housing through their CIS portal in the Housing U application

Residents work in partnership with Campus Recreation's Outdoor Adventures program to plan adventures throughout Utah and the Rocky Mountains. If you live on this floor, you will have the opportunity to go whitewater rafting, rock climbing, snowshoeing, camping, backpacking, hiking, backcountry skiing, and do many other activities in this beautiful place. If you’re an outdoors person or want to be an outdoors person, join the students of the Outdoor Adventure Floor.
Sustainability Action & Leading Together (SALT)
If you’re interested in learning about careers in sustainability and engaging in events and actions designed to further sustainability on campus and in our communities, the Sustainability Action & Leading Together (SALT) Living Learning Community (LLC) is an excellent option for you. SALT students can participate in leadership opportunities with the Sustainability Office, volunteer in the organic campus gardens and farmer’s market, engage in service activities with the Bennion Center, and join student groups focused on the environment, social issues, and sustainability.
SALT students also will enjoy cohort-specific activities, such as field trips to see sustainability in action within the Salt Lake city region, outdoor recreation excursions, or other events SALT students wish to organize. SALT students will explore career pathways through a seminar that brings community professionals to campus to share their experiences and informs students about how to best take advantage of opportunities at the University of Utah to have fun, earn scholarships, and be better prepared for a fulfilling professional life post-graduation. Any first-year student interested in forming a community of peers interested in the environment and sustainability can apply to be a part of the SALT LLC.
